You will be required to put up & take down your own tent each day and help out with cooking & cleaning duties. On the way you will get to experience long and often bumpy road while traveling. Keep in mind you need to be able to climb the ladder steps to get on & off the overland trucks.
Passengers over 65 years are required to have a medical certificate before a booking can be confirmed.

An overland truck is completely self-sufficient, carrying everything you could possibly need for your African overlanding truck adventure. The overlanding truck contains a fully equipped kitchen (food, cutlery, pots and pans and a gas stove). Material and supplies for cleaning, washing up and helping the crew to shop for groceries and prepare food are shared amongst all travellers. So be prepared to roll up your sleeves and jump in.

Of course, you will have plenty of free time to relax and enjoy the African landscape. Do some sightseeing or wildlife spotting. There are sightseeing activities and game drives included in our itineraries. Together with plenty of free time for you to spend at leisure. In a few destinations you will be able to dine at a local restaurants as well, to give us all a well-deserved night off cooking!

Camping overland truck adventure in (South) Africa
On these kind of trips are used two-person dome tents with mosquito nets at the door and windows. A sewn-in ground sheet, and a separate flysheet, which you share with a fellow traveller (unless you paid a single person supplement). If you’re not used to camping, no stress. All dome tents are very easy to put up. And for sure the crew will give you a demonstration. Mattresses are provided, but you need to bring your own sleeping bag and maybe small pillow to your convenance
All the tents have a rain cover that is designed to aid the flow of rainwater from the tent sides to the ground. These are pretty good effective. Please keep in mind that camping in the rain, you can sometimes expect a little dampness and an occasional leak. But do not worry the tents are maintained every trip to avoid leaks. We even bring a few spare tents to swap if any tent might be damaged.
Where do we camp during your overlanding truck camping trip in Africa
We camp in set campsites along our routes that specifically cater to overland truck travellers. Bear in mind some of the campsites in Africa can be basic and have a great rustic “under African skies” feeling.
Campsites in Southern Africa generally quite decent and good facilities. Almost all campsites have washing facilities. Most of them have electricity points to charge your phone and cameras.
Some nights we go bush camping. This means you are camping without ablution facilities and not at a built-up campsite. You will camp out under the African skies. And surrounded by the African sounds makes this more than worthwhile.

The overlanding truck
The overlanding truck is custom-built. It is converted so that the truck that has seating space for all our travelers and enough storage space for luggage and all the equipment what is needed. The seating area is raised, providing a great advantage for game viewing and photography. All seats are cushioned, and around you is storage space for personal items and daypacks in your seating area.
Where does your stuff go in an overlanding truck?
Overlanding truck storage sections are separated from the seating area and are located underneath the main passenger compartment. There is a specific kitchen area with slide-out tables for food preparation, all the cutlery, crockery, cooled storage, and supplies. While there is a separate area for storing chairs, tents, and other equipment. The main luggage storage is located toward the back of the overlanding truck.
